Our children attend community based integrated school programs or special education placements. The program Director attends the school on a weekly basis to synchronize and ensure the consistency of both the home and school programmes as well as to discuss any concerns and highlights of the child's behavior. We consider this to be an important element in developing individual treatment programs.

Oakdale implemented a language program for all residents. An important component is facilitated communication. Oakdale staff have been instructed with this method and it is applied for on an individual basis for those clients who benefit from it. For clients who are unable to participate and cannot verbalize, sign language and or symbols are introduced to teach effective communication.
