How To Contact Us

When a child is admitted to Oakdale, he or she is assessed by the Program Director
and program staff to determine the current needs of the child within the parameters
of their diagnosis. Long and short term goals are then discussed and documented.
The progress of each child is monitored in weekly conferences with the Program
Director and staff. In our meeting, we discuss the child's general behavior,
emotional and social development, progress in skills, and then summarize
their strengths and areas for potential growth in order to maintain their
individual developmental programme and re-evaluate each child's level of functioning.
We also ensure that the child's medical status is monitored. When required, our team of specialist
physicians and psychologists are available for consultation. These are compassionate,
thorough professionals who have had years of experience dealing with the needs
of our special children. Careful menu planning ensures proper nutrition. Special
diets are provided for special needs.
Regular scheduled visits to our premises by a well-known child psychiatrist with
expertise in mental handicaps, ensures up to date assessments and monitoring of
medication.
Ongoing participation by staff in workshops and seminars (e.g.: The Geneva Centre) provide continuous education and professional development to enhance our service and to ensure quality programming for our clients.
Oakdale also receives support from Surrey Place Centre through regular monthly clinical consultation and program strategies.
